USWNT Honored Best Team at This Year's ESPY Awards

Alex Morgan, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Zion Williamson, Messi and more also took home prizes.

The 2019 ESPY Awards took place on Wednesday night in Los Angeles, and taking home one of the biggest awards was the United States Women’s National Team.

Coming off of winning the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and their second consecutive World Cup Championship title, Megan Rapinoe and her USWNT colleagues were honored as being this year’s best team. Additionally, Alex Morgan won Best Female Athlete.

Other notable winners include Lionel Messi for Best International Men’s Soccer Player, Giannis Antetokounmpo for Best Male Athlete and Best NBA Player, and Zion Williamson for Best College Athlete.

The event was also attended by A-list althetes from Odell Beckham Jr. and Dwyane Wade to Zion Williamson and Chloe Kim. Check out the full list of 2019 ESPY Award winners below.

Sabrina Ionescu (Oregon Basketball) recorded her 13th triple-double. She now holds the men’s and women’s NCAA basketball record for triple doubles. She surpassed Kyle Collinsworth’s mark of 12 in four seasons at BYU.
