Featuring a star-studded cast including Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Shannon, Tom Holland, and Nicholas Hoult, the new film dives into the two electricity titans and the race to “power the modern world.” It will follow the tumultuous journey of Thomas Edison (Cumberbatch), as he attempts to introduce his DC technology in Manhattan. He’s met with obstruction from businessman George Westinghouse (Shannon) and his partner Nikola Tesla (Hoult) who rival with their own AC technology.
The film was originally slated to be distributed in 2017 under The Weinstein Company, but was later shelved due to Harvey Weinstein’s fallout. Since then, director Gomez-Rejon has made substantial changes to the footage, swapped its musical score, cut portions, and added new scenes.
