Eytys SS20 Provides Kitschy Rave Essentials and Futuristic Cowboy Boots
“Club Omnivore” is packed with ’90s infuence.
Eytys continues to evolve as a brand, with its first ready-to-wear offering hitting stores in mere weeks and a brand new collection set to debut for Spring/Summer 2020. Premiered at the label’s first-ever Paris Fashion Week presentation, the range channels the retro influence Eytys is known for, while including a variety of modern references to keep the items timely.
Like the recent Sonic sneaker, SS20 wears throwback inspiration on its sleeve — no pun intended. “Club Omnivore” is inspired by a fictionalized account of a denizen living in Eytys World, effortlessly transitioning from varsity sweaters and Space Cowboy boots during the day to motocross leather jacket and beach sandals at night. As such, the collection delivers a wide array of layering pieces, footwear and — for the first time — eyewear.
Eytys’ latest is partially a joint effort; collaboration with Tiger of Sweden yields ’80s-indebted suiting, while Brooklyn’s Martine Ali contributes an array of genderless jewelry. However, the core of the collection as all Eytys, with staples like giant jeans and clunky sneakers anchoring tight tanktops, half-sleeve shirts and throughly-washed denim jackets. Anoraks and matching shorts lend a sporty contrast, while weighty belts and dangling keyrings grant the looks extra visual appeal. Some items offer a thoughtful upgrade to retro staples, like the enormous jeans with cargo pockets at the knee and the v-neck sweaters that sport raglan shoulders and intentionally-oversized sleeves.
The new items hit Eytys’ site and stockists like SSENSE early next year.
Elsewhere at Paris Fashion Week, Maison Miharu Yasuhiro introduced its own selection of progressive footwear and youthful garments.
