The “first Monday in May” has descended upon the fashion world and virtually every inch of the industry has turned its to attention to preparing for the annual Met Gala, which will debut The Costume Institute’s Spring 2019 exhibition, Camp: Notes on Fashion. In tandem with tonight’s opening, The Met Store has unveiled a limited-edition “Camp Collection” capsule that will include pieces from 14 different designers, as well as prints from artist Jane Kaplowitz.

The assortment features a range of premium and luxury brands, including Off-White™, Moschino, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Richard Quinn and more, which have all created items to reflect their take on camp — the “elements of irony, humor, parody, pastiche, artifice, theatricality, and exaggeration.” Items in the range span apparel, accessories and fragrances, with graphic details referencing the theme on various T-shirts and sweats, while unconventional designs like Vaquera’s sock-pouch speak to the quirkiness of the theme.

Kaplowitz’s artworks also supplement the collection, spotlighting the main figures associated with the concept: Jean Paul Gaultier, Susan Sontag, and Oscar Wilde. The illustrations will be printed in a limited run of just 20 editions. Rounding out the capsule are a mix of other labels including Blindness, Charlotte Olympia, Erdem, Gypsy Sport, Maison Margiela, Mary Katrantzou, Matty Bovan and Molly Goddard.

Priced from $25 USD for one of Gucci’s notebooks, up to $2,000 USD apiece for Kaplowitz’s original prints, The Camp Collection will be available at The Met Store in New York, as well as its online shop. Camp: Notes on Fashion will be on view to the public beginning May 9 until September 8, 2019.
