KITH x Tommy Hilfiger 2019 Spring/Summer Collection Casts Bright Hues and Seaside Vibes
Inspired by the tropical island of Mustique.
Just last week, we were graced with KITH‘s charitable Maya Angelou capsule in support of the namesake high school in Los Angeles. KITH has returned, teaming up with Tommy Hilfiger once again for a collaborative Spring/Summer 2019 collection.
This season’s lookbook is set amidst a sunny coastal beach lined by clear water and hanging palm trees. With the addition of sailboats and classic architecture setting the scene, the inspiration behind the collection stems from the tropical island of Mustique — one of Tommy’s favorite travel destinations where he spent most vacations and shot some of his most iconic campaigns. The world of seaside leisure and summer vacation is reflected in a series of garments like branded tank tops, lightweight jackets, short-sleeve button-ups, bucket hats, swim shorts and sneakers. Bold color-blocking and multi-paneled silhouettes are a nod to ’90s-era Hilfiger archives, while KITH branding and refined cuts offer a distinctively contemporary outlook to the garments.
Some styles are completely new and designed by KITH, such as the Monogram Track Suits, Satin Camp Shirt, Nautical Popovers and Boxing Shorts. Other highlights include sailing vests and multi-pocket zip-ups. Another spotlight in the collection is the Tommy Hilfiger Hyperbole Running Sneaker that’s seeing the light of day once again since its release in 1990. Fortunately, most of the OG details of the retro sneakers were kept intact, with subtle KITH branding added on the tongue, outsole, and footbeds as a bonus.
The KITH x Tommy Hilfiger SS19 collection will be available at 11 a.m. EST, May 24 at all KITH locations as well as its website.
