Jamila Woods has dropped off her highly-anticipated sophomore album, LEGACY! LEGACY!.

With 12 of the 13 tracks named after historical black figures, Woods creates written self-portraits for people who have inspired her—James Baldwin, Eartha Kitt, Sun Ra, Muddy Waters, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Miles Davis to name a few. Channeling their ideologies, beliefs and self-confidence, the multifaceted creative narrates numerous racial and feminine perspectives of life in America. She enlists the help of Nitty Scott on the empowering “SONIA,” theMIND and Jasminfire on “SUN RA,” along with fellow Chicago musicians Saba for “BASQUIAT” and Nico Segal on “BALDWIN.”
