Curren$y Links up With Statik Selektah In New Joint LP 'Gran Turismo'
Laced with funky beats and more disc scratching.

As a follow up to Curren$y‘s collaborative track with LNDN DRGS “Sake,” the Big Easy rapper has returned with a new full-length LP, with Statik Selektah on the beats.
Dubbed Gran Turismo, the album features such names as Jim Jones, Wiz Khalifa, Jadakiss and YBN Cordae, to mention a few. Besides Statik’s signature disc scratching that can be heard throughout most of the tracks, the instrumentals on the album are weaved with lush piano chords, smooth bass notes and soulful, gospel-like vocal harmonies. Though the production is finely layered, the beats still manage to feel minimal by leaving enough room to highlight lengthy bars and rich lyricism like in one hook “Friend or foe, you may never know until you let ‘em get too close.” Other songs feature verses backed by jazz-inflected sax’ and curiously off-kilter notes. The album sits at approximately 27 minutes and includes 10 tracks.
