Kit Harington Gives a Tour of the 'GoT' Prop Warehouse
Also featuring Emilia Clarke and the evolution of her dragons.
As fans revel in the final season of Game of Thrones, Kit Harington took Anderson Cooper into the show’s prop warehouse in a recent episode of 60 Minutes. Dummy corpses, battle armors and even Bran’s wheelchair are highlighted in the segment, exhibiting the skill and finesse GoT’s prop artists hold.
Calling it a hoarder and a nerd’s paradise, the actor shared fun facts about the items stored in the depository. As he showed off Jon Snow’s Valaryian steel sword Longclaw, Harington quickly choked up. “It’s beautiful. This is like my… It’s a bit emotional seeing this again,” he finished off. Cooper also had the chance to put on The Hound’s Helm and carry the Lannister Family Crossbow, subtly geeking out over the fact that it was the same prop Peter Dinklage’s character Tyrion Lannister used to kill his father Tywin as he sat on the toilet. The highlight of the footage, however, would be Ned Stark’s severed head on a pike from his death in season one stored in a black plastic box. “It’s like we found the Ark,” Cooper described. “We found Ned’s head. It’s on a stake, he doesn’t look happy.”
In a separate clip from the 60 Minutes segment, Emilia Clarke (Daenaerys Targaryen) shared her experience of filming her dragon-riding scenes and how it evolved into a “genuinely scary theme park ride,” complete with behind the scenes footage of the machinery’s modernization over the scenes.
