Wavey Garms Visits '80s, '90s & '00s in a Retro-Tinged 'Waveyland' Advert
Highlighting the best of vintage streetwear.
South London streetwear staple Wavey Garms has released a fittingly retro advert celebrating the store’s vast selection of vintage goods.
Wavey Garms is famed for its selection of ’80s, ’90s and 2000’s designer and cult-defining clothing, delivering everything from mid-90’s Moschino to vintage Stone Island and even pieces from today from the likes of Palace. The store’s eclectic mix is highlighted in the short film which sees the protagonist, Nigz, walk into the store and find two pieces of rare vintage Moschino. Separating the two items, Nigz is subsequently pulled into a timewarping vortex of designer labels and archetypal London references.
The film brings Nigz straight into Millwall-supporting South London in 1986, where he is approached by local football hooligans who want to know who he is, and why he is there. Shearling jackets, Levi’s 501s and a Hackett jumper are the stars of the show when highlighting Wavey Garms’ repertoire of clothing, as the ’80s-clad cast go on to chase Nigz out of their estate.
Transporting to 1997, Wavey Garms excellently depicts the behind the scenes action of a jungle rave. Finding himself in the girl’s toilets, Wavey Garms highlights its unique offerings of ’90s gear from Moschino boots to Armani bags – with lipgloss and hoop earrings in tow.
Nigz soon realises he’s out of touch with the ’90s fashion, and so dresses appropriately for his next stop. Heading to 2004, Nigz stands up to the mic in the middle of a grime cypher decked in the very best London grime garms.
