Tame Impala Premieres"Borderline" on 'Saturday Night Live'
The Australian band’s ‘SNL’ debut.
Tame Impala hit the stage on Saturday Night Live last night, marking the Australian band’s first performance on the long-running comedy show. To mark the special occasion, Tame Impala debuted its second new track since 2015’s Currents: the smooth “Borderline.”
After returning to the public eye with last week’s “Patience,” Tame Impala has once again teased fans with an appreciably funky track that plays like an elevation of the band’s psychedelic inclinations. “Borderline” picks right up where the band left off, delivering driving drums, sparkling keyboards and gentle harmonies, anchored by some squelchy bass. Abetted by the gentle patter of conga drums, bandleader and vocalist Kevin Parker’s lilting sing-song delivery complements the throwback inclinations of “Borderline.”

Next month, Tame Impala joins a wide range of top-shelf musical acts at Coachella.
