IWC & Sotheby's Pilot's Watch Auction Supports The Antoine De Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation
Bradley Cooper sported the watch at the Academy Awards.

IWC Schaffhausen recently announced a unique charity project alongside its brand ambassador, Bradley Cooper. The A Star Is Born actor was seen wearing IWC’s Big Pilot’s Watch Single Piece (Ref. IW500923) at the recent Academy Awards. The watch has now been auctioned off online by Sotheby’s, attracting a winning bid of $60,000 USD. The Swiss manufacturer will donate the full proceeds from the auction to the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Association in support of the Association Arrimage, a charity based in Nice.
The Big Pilot’s Watch features a one-of-a-kind engraving of the iconic quote – “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly” – from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s acclaimed novel, The Little Prince, on the back of its 18-carat 5N gold case, bridging the brand with the charitable cause the auction supports.
The Association Arrimage was established by Dr. Claude Garrandès, a blind French artist, teacher and publisher. Its main focus is to teach visually-impaired children how to read drawings through the sense of touch. To do so, Claude Garrandès Editions and the association created the first-ever tactile art book filled with embossed illustrations of The Little Prince, accompanied by Braille descriptions in both English and French. Thanks to these unique tools created by Arrimage, visually-impaired children are now also able to learn how to draw themselves.
