Burna Boy Highlights His Countrymen's Grind in "Dangote" Music Video
The rising Afrofusion star’s first release of the year.
Burna Boy just dropped an accompanying music video for his latest single “Dangote.” The Clarence Peters-directed visual focuses on the numerous financial struggles many Nigerians are currently facing.
Titled after Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote, the piece opens with a quote and statistic that urges the government to decrease the country’s unemployment. The music video itself follows the track’s jazzy approach—relaxed, but aims to tell the harsh reality most Nigerians live through every day. Multiple characters are briefly introduced throughout the song—all looking to make a buck or two in whatever way they can—but ends with a kid in oversized earphones counting his stash while Burna Boy sings on a distorted TV.
