Singer, songwriter, producer, and composer Holly Herndon successfully placed herself on the music industry’s map in 2015 with her sophomore album Platform – drawing a range of critical accolades for her tempestuously avant-garde and experimental sound. After a lengthy hiatus, Herndon has officially broken the silence in regards to her return, announcing that her third full-length album titled PROTO will be arriving this May. To commemorate the news, the artist has shared the project’s latest single “Eternal,” debuting an equally compelling video that fits the bill of the sonically-forward track.

The new track showcases the signature sound of Herndon, offering a variety of skittering synths and percussion, intermingling these elements with tantalizing vocal overlays that highlight the singer’s emphasis on production. To help visually articulate the emphatic single, she and her team have provided an equally experimental music video alongside her A.I. alias Spawn — who the artist says you can hear on various parts of the album. The visual is overtly glitch-heavy and laggy as if to be stuttering optically, interchanging between herself and the various team members involved.

You can check out the video for “Eternal” above or stream it below via Spotify. PROTO will be out May 10 via 4AD.

For more music news, Shura just released her latest track “BKLYNLDN.”
