The custom pair he wore at the unveiling of the Model Y.
Many sneakerheads we left wondering what Elon Musk was wearing on his feet during Tesla’s Friday Model Y unveiling. Today we get a closer look at those sneakers, compliments of De Marco Customs.
Commissioned by a close friend of Musk for a birthday present, LA-based sneaker customizer Marco Acosta set out to make a pair of Air Jordan 1 Highs that would reflect the electric car manufacturer’s vision. Taking cues from the newest Roadster, the pair of custom AJ1s see Horween Leather Shell Cordovan for the toebox, which then has a laser-cut Tesla logo stitched on top; both the Tesla logo and Swoosh are made from red metallic leather. The remainder of the black uppers are constructed using python leather and pony hair.
