COMME des GARÇONS & Nike Showcase New Velcro-Fastened Sneaker
The latest statement footwear from Rei Kawakubo’s label.
After COMME des GARÇONS’ offshoot-label BLACK BLACK COMME des GARÇONS released the long-awaited Nike Air Footscape last month to much surprise, Rei Kawakubo’s mainstay imprint has returned alongside Nike to showcase the upcoming black tonal sneaker from it’s latest Fall/Winter 2019 collection. If you thought the dad sneaker trend couldn’t top the chunky sneakers from the past year, think again – these utilize an off-kilter velcro fastening system.
Continuing with the outlandish statement concepts that Rei Kawakubo and her various labels are known for, the newly teased sneaker dons a unique chain link with an in-your-face branding touch at the toe region, which can be taken off via clasps located on both lateral and medial sides. The overall shoe is doused in tonal black leather, meeting a similarly tonal outsole and mesh hits on the rear heel.
