Trippie Redd Delivers Gripping Stop-Motion Visuals for “The Grinch”
Season’s greetings.
Trippie Redd is showing no signs of slowing down. After recently topping the Billboard 200 charts, the Ohio rapper is back with new visuals for “The Grinch,” a cut off his mixtape A Love Letter to You 4, just in time for the holiday season.
Don’t let the song title fool you though. The track is doused in gritty trap-tinged instrumentals, setting stage for one of Redd’s most intense vocal deliveries — the music video further amplifies the song’s intensity. Directed by William Child, it’s a gripping stop-motion animation that follows a clay version of Redd, who just got out from prison, on a ruthless hunt for all the people who had snitched on him. Much of the video is set in grim, low-light backdrops or the buzzing white fluorescent lights of an interrogation room. After tracking down most of Redd’s enemies, the last person on the chopping block is a green figure that closely resembles the iconic Dr. Seuss character The Grinch. The video ends on a cliffhanger as the green foe walks onto a remote rooftop where Redd has been patiently waiting, glaring at the target through a small opening.
