South Korean Rapper sokodomo Shares Debut 'WWW.III' EP
An eccentric offering from the Sony Music-signed upstart.
Riotous South Korean rapper sokodomo, real name Yang Seung-ho, has had an interesting breakout year. Following his entrance into the industry through performing on the country’s High-School Rapper TV show, the off-kilter 19-year-old debuted under Sony Music earlier this year with a variety of singles. Now the artist continues his 2019 run with the arrival of his debut EP, WWW.III.
Moving away from much of the copy-ridden atmosphere of South Korea’s hip-hop sound, sokodomo’s EP is filled with seven energy-jolting tracks that aptly innovate. On lead single “GO HOME” he manipulates his cadence and flow to spit ridiculous bilingual rhymes about finding his way through music to needing lip balm for his overly-chapped mouth. On second single “TOO MUCH,” he echoes these eccentric tendencies, bringing forth a riotous Nightmare Before Christmas like chorus before machine-gunning out his verses alongside Qim Isle. Interesting cameos come into play with Gwangju-native Ugly Duck penning some old school bars on “West Side Cling,” with KIRIN and SUMIN offering a splash of ‘90s disco R&B on “BIKE” and “WANT LOVE?.”
