Samsung’s Upcoming Galaxy S11 Will Reportedly Feature a 108-Megapixel Camera

According to reports, Samsung intends to compete with Apple’s newly upgraded cameras by equipping its upcoming Galaxy S11 smartphone with a 108-megapixel camera. Bloomberg cites unknown sources, however, reports not only will the S11 have a 108-megapixel sensor for the main camera, but that it will also sport three more on the back of the device, including an ultrawide-angle lens and 5x optical zoom. According to Engadget, the device will reportedly include a “Time of Flight” sensor to help with depth detection to assist augmented reality functionality.

There is also speculation that Samsung has a yet-to-be-announced Galaxy Fold “clamshell device” that will utilize a 108-megapixel camera as well. Xiaomi‘s upcoming Mi Mix Alpha will also utilize a 108-megapixel sensor, and already exists in its Xiaomi CC9 Pro. If the rumors serve to be true, this would be the first time Samsung has updated its megapixel sensor since 2016’s Galaxy S7 and its 12-megapixel sensor.

Samsung usually announces new Galaxy phones every February, so news about the S11 should be expected near early 2020.
