MB&F have just unveiled their latest horological masterpiece — the Legacy Machine Thunderdome watch. The highly-sophisticated watch was brought to life by Eric Coudray and Kari Voutilainen, and sees a 44mm hemispherical anti-reflective sapphire dome which houses a stunning guilloché dial plate and a separate angled platinum dial which tells the hours and minutes.
The white dial is kept minimal and small so that the watch’s pièce de résistance is not obstructed in any way. Sitting at the center of the watch is the TriAx mechanism that features three axes of revolution at different speeds and on different planes: 8 seconds, 12 seconds and 20 seconds. This spectacular example of watchmaking is limited to 33 pieces in platinum and 10 pieces in tantalum; the tantalum version is specially made for the 40th anniversary of The Hour Glass. Those interested can expect to pay close to $280,000 USD. Head over to MB&F’s web page for more info.
