Maison Margiela Drops Chunky Black Dress-Sneakers for FW19
Classic meets modern.
Maison Margiela is back with its latest set of reconstructed footwear. The atelier has seamlessly fused together design elements of sneakers with that of classic footwear, giving a pair of loafers and derbys a chunky sneaker midsole.
Both models come in a sleek triple-black colorway, detailed with a mix of materials like polished leather and durable rubber overlays. The Cross Loafers sees a wide saddle with an angular slot, reinforced with double-stitched seams that go over the vamp. Minimal branding is seen at the heel, detailed with contrasting white stitching, while the shoe’s brown leather insole is debossed with silver “Maison Margiela” lettering. Featuring angular ridges, rubber EVA inserts and a serrated heel piece, the thick midsole is slightly raised from the rear and curves up at the toes. The Cross Derby comes with the same midsole, but the uppers arrive with the mold of a smooth leather lace-up Derby, finished off by tonal top-stitching around the vamp and throat line.
The Maison Margiela Cross Derbys and Cross Loafers are currently available at SSENSE’s website for $1,095 USD.
