CBC Address the Cutting of Donald Trump's Cameo in 'Home Alone 2' (UPDATE)
Apparently it was done before he was elected president.

UPDATE (December 27, 2019): Since the airing of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York in Canada by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, which excluded the scene of Donald Trump’s cameo, the CBC has now addressed why it was cut. Speaking on behalf of the company, head of public affairs Chuck Thompson explained that Trump’s scene was only one of a few that were cut in order to fit more commercials in. Apparently the cuts, which amassed to eight minutes in total, “were done in 2014 when we first acquired the film and before Mr. Trump was elected president.”
Thompson goes on to explain that “As is often the case with feature films adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited for time. The scene with Donald Trump was one of several that were cut from the move as none of them were integral to the plot.”

ORIGINAL STORY (December 26, 2019): Those in Canada who cozied up to a recent airing of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York may have noticed something a little off about the movie: CBC, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, edited out Donald Trump’s cameo.
The Home Alone franchise is always a popular topic during the holiday season, but it appears Home Alone 2: Lost in New York got special attention this year after Trump made a few remarks about his cameo in the film: “A lot of people mention it every year, especially around Christmas. They say — especially young kids — they say, ‘I just saw you in the movie.’ They don’t see me on television as they do in the movie. But it’s been a good movie and I was a little younger, to put it mildly. And it was an honor to do it.” The movie even came up during a conference call with military members, being asked whether the film was one of his favorites. According to a number of Tweets, many believe that the decision to cut Trump’s cameo was politically motivated, but CBC has denied this. In a statement to comicbook, CBC mentioned the cut was made for accommodating commercial time: “as is often the case with features adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited to allow for commercial time within the format.”
