Random Identities Announced as Pitti Uomo FW20 Special Guest
Stefano Pilati’s brand will present alongside Jil Sander and Telfar at the menswear fair.

Ahead of the upcoming Pitti Uomo Fall/Winter 2020 happening in January, Random Identities has just been announced as the Florence-based menswear fair’s Special Guest. Random Identities is a fairly new brand, created by former Yves Saint Laurent creative director Stefano Pilati in late 2018. Already coming a far way since its inception, the brand will be joining the likes of Jil Sander who will be participating as Guest Designers and Telfar as the Special Project.
The announcement was made via a post on Random Identities’ Instagram page, simply stating that it will be the fair’s special guest and that a special event surrounding the brand will happen on January 9. Details are currently scarce, but based on the three collections Random Identities has already dropped during its existence, visitors can likely expect a preview of mostly-monochrome, unisex clothing and accessories. The brand started as a digital project on Instagram, but officially launched product via Ssense in November 2018. Since then, it has seen viral success through specific items like its work boots that have a handle reminiscent of a handbag.
“It’s a great pleasure to offer a preview of Random Identities, the new project by Stefano Pilati, and this event demonstrates our longtime mutual respect and friendship,” Pitti Immagine director of communication and events Lapo Cianchi told WWD. “Along with its original contribution to the ideas of gender and identity, it seems that Random Identities is a fruit of Pilati’s inner desire to express himself through fashion, with his obsession for clothes that is the result of decades of integrity, work and constant learning.”
In other fashion news, Barneys CEO Daniella Vitale has officially stepped down immediately following the company’s dramatic sale to Authentic Brands.
