Off-White™ Enters a New Sartorial Phase With Pre-Fall 2020 "Pivot" Collection
Reinterpreting the office uniform.
Off-White™ has unveiled its Pre-Fall 2020 menswear collection titled “Pivot,” showcasing a new direction for the Virgil Abloh-helmed imprint.
As Abloh says in a press release, “Off-White™ isn’t the new kid on the block anymore… I was interested in fast-forwarding the menswear, and adding in leather and a slimmer silhouette. It has been quite liberating to explore a different guy and to pivot the brand. I am entering a new phase.”
Marking its “new phase” is a collection comprised of clothing indebted with office uniform design cues, which are subsequently juxtaposed with Off-White™’s luxe streetwear approach. As a result, Abloh presents flared leather and patchwork denim trousers, briefcases, tailored topcoats, blazers complete with off-set double belting, and shirts finished with textured stripes and emblems.
Traditional Off-White™ iconography such as stripes and crosses have been repurposed in “Pivot,” with tote bags subtly sporting a debossed stripe design and belts fashioning the iconic cross logo. Furthermore, Abloh introduces more hardware and jewelry to Off-White™ with belts that sport chains and all-new chunky necklaces.
Rounding off the Pre-Fall 2020 collection is its footwear offering, which comes in the form of chunky, oversized silhouettes ranging from sneakers to heavy-duty leather shoes and boots.
