The First Ever Women's Battle at The Berrics, Round 1: Lacey Baker vs. Mariah Duran
History in the making.
The first-ever Women’s Battle at The Berrics (WBATB) kicked off this weekend with a stellar opening round match between Lacey Baker and Mariah Duran.
Lacey is a Californian skater who currently rides for Meow Skateboards, Independent Trucks, Mob Grip and Nike. She’s got phenomenal board balance and an affections personally, just look at all the smiles she pulled while shooting for us at this year’s X Games. Mariah also comes from the Southwest, Albuquerque, New Mexico to be exact, and she is sponsored by Meow skateboards as well, Cloud 9 Griptape, CHPO and adidas. She’s 22 years old, has five X Games medals, including one Gold, and most certainly deserves a pro model model…*cough* adidas. You can learn more about each skater below in The Berrics‘ preview video.
As for the match, Baker jumped out to an early lead, one that Duran just couldn’t chip away at. She hit a stride, but it was too late in the game, Lacey just had a fantastic day nailing just about everything trick.
