Summer Walker's Tiny Desk Concert Exemplifies Her Unabashed Take on R&B
Following the release of her record-breaking debut studio album.
Summer Walker is unequivocally the hottest female voice in R&B. After breaking Beyoncé’s streaming record for Lemonade last week with her debut studio album, Over It, the artist equally made history by earning the top spot for R&B streams by any female artist. Just one week after the record-breaking studio debut, the Atlanta native stopped by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert to perform five of her album’s tracks, bringing out her guitar for “Session 32,” “Riot,” and “Wasted.” She also performed fan-favorite “Girls Need Love,” rounding out the five-song set with her latest single “Playing Games.”
“Look, I’m really freaking excited to be here but I have social anxiety like a motherf*cker,” Walker shared with NPR. “I’m freaking the hell out, I’m sweating, but this is so exciting for me. I watch this show all the time.” You can catch her soul-expelling performance above. She is currently set to embark on her 35-city “The First And Last Tour” later this week.
