Virgil Abloh "Refines" Luxury Streetwear for Louis Vuitton Pre-Spring 2020
Classics are updated with elevated treatments and new silhouettes.
Virgil Abloh has set out to “refine” the concept of luxury streetwear for Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Spring 2020 men’s collection, taking what is considered everyday items and elevating them through advanced techniques and intricate prints. The pastel suiting and vibrant florals presented in the brand’s Spring/Summer 2020 runway show have been swapped out for the likes of earth-toned windbreakers and desert camouflage patterns.
In the outerwear and top categories, Abloh experiments with an array of treatments and silhouettes for the transitional season. On one end of the spectrum, a plush zippered hoodie may be emblazoned with large LV logos, whereas a trench coat may be covered with jacquard that’s inspired by a Raphael-created Renaissance painting in another instance. The theme equally makes its way into the bottoms, in which cargo trousers are updated with three-dimensional pockets and shorts are marked with a twirling wooden grain print. Naturally, a range of harnesses is offered as an add-on, rounding it all out with an Abloh favorite.
