Virgil Abloh‘s “MARKERAD” IKEA collection is scheduled to arrive in a few days. However an item from the highly-anticipated capsule made a surprise drop at one of IKEA’s stores located in Paris, France.
According to some posts shared via social media, the wall clock — marked with a “TEMPORARY” motif in Virgil’s signature quote marks — hit shelves over the weekend. Of course it did not take long for the item to sell out, which was retailing for €34.99 EUR (approximately $39 USD). Unsurprisingly the clock has now hit reseller sites, averaging an asking price of €100 EUR (approximately $112 USD). It remains to be seen if this was an accident or a surprise drop devised by IKEA itself.
Virgil Abloh’s 15-piece “MARKERAD” IKEA collection will be available at select IKEA stores worldwide starting Friday, November 1. Customers will be limited to purchasing just one piece of each of the items in the assortment.
In related news, Virgil Abloh’s “Figures of Speech” exhibition is heading to Atlanta.
