Nissin Shakes up Instant Noodles Game With Obsessively Ergonomic Plastic Fork
Dubbed “THE FORK.”
After offering up a line of nutritious instant ramen, Nissin has returned with a great new feature for its Cup Noodles, an obsessively ergonomic plastic fork that makes having instant noodles more convenient than it already is.
Developed by the Japanese design agency nendo, “THE FORK” features a bevy of subtle designs that streamlines the noodle eating experience. To start, it has a 128-degree arch at the neck to limit the strain of lifting one’s elbows when picking up the noodles. Next, the left and right sides of the head have rounded edges that slide perfectly against the walls of Cup Noodles to make scooping easier; it’s complemented by a shallow dip around the neck that pockets the toppings. It even has small bumps between its slots and tines to prevent noodles from slipping out and it also has a small clip that holds down the lid for steaming. To finish off all these features, “THE FORK” comes in both left and right-hand versions, boldly colored in red for the former and white for the latter.
“THE FORK” is currently available as limited edition pieces at LAWSON convenience stores in Japan, to be made available online at 9 p.m. EST, October 30, in a run of just 3000 forks, at Nissin’s dedicated site store.nissin.com for approximately $6 USD.
