Dwayne Johnson & Emily Blunt Take Fans on a Wild Ride in Disney's 'Jungle Cruise'
Based on the beloved theme-park ride.
After announcing the project during its D23 Expo held earlier this summer, Disney has just shared the first trailer for its live-action Jungle Cruise film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt.
The adventure film centers on Emily Blunt’s character Lily and her brother McGregor (Jack Whitehall) who hire a boat captain named Frank (Johnson) to take them down the Amazon River in search of a tree believed to have magical healing powers. Along their journey they face off against mystical creatures and a competing German expedition team.
The film is set in the early 20th century and is closely based on the beloved Disney theme-park ride. Only time will tell if this can turn into a hit movie franchise such as Pirates of the Caribbean, which was also based on one of the park’s rides.
Disney’s Jungle Cruise lands in theaters July 24, 2020.
