Listen to Bob Dylan & Johnny Cash's Unreleased Demo of "Wanted Man"
An early take on Cash’s 1969 country classic.
In conjunction with the 15th installment of Bob Dylan’s ongoing Bootleg Series—which has seen the release of a variety of unreleased material and recordings—an unreleased demo alongside Johnny Cash for his 1969 classic “Wanted Man” has been released. The latest installment is said to focus in on both artist’s prolific Nashville recording sessions from 1969, but will include a variety of new material from ‘67 to ‘69.
Dylan had originally written “Wanted Man” for Cash, which became an instantaneous hit for the brooding country star. As is evident, slight variations in the lyrics can be found, with Dylan beginning the songs intro chorus, diving into Cash’s take, with the two occasionally harmonizing throughout. Travelin’ Thru, 1967 – 1969: The Bootleg Series Vol. 15 will also feature an unreleased demo take of Dylan’s “Mystery Train,” which takes on Junior Park’s 1953 Memphis blues track of the same name, “Girl From the North Country,” and much more. It is set to arrive on November 1 via Columbia Records.
