A combination of the GEL-Kayano 5 OG‘s classic upper and the GEL-Quantum 360‘s modern midsole, ASICS‘s GEL-Kayano 5 360 is an attention-demanding hybrid silhouette that’s now been equipped with rugged GORE-TEX material.
Arriving in an aquatic “Cool Mist” and earthy “Oatmeal”colorways, each shoe features a layered design on its upper with signature ASICS branding on the tongue and heel. The main aesthetic difference from previous models is provided by the base layer, which swaps out its standard breathable mesh construction for a more hardy synthetic ripstop that’ll keep the wearer’s feet warm and dry through the fall and into the winter.
Similar to many other GORE-TEX-equipped shoes, these ASICS outwardly trumpet their tech, acknowledging their presence by stamping a sizable branded hit on the medial quarter. Further special detailing and GORE-TEX’s mission statement grace the insoles and inside of the tongue. Down below, a full-foot GEL cushioning system guarantees that no feel is sacrificed in the pursuit of protection.
A timely follow-up to collaborative iterations with GmbH and AWAKE, both of these new GEL-Kayano 5 360s will release at stockists like ASICS CH and Sneakersnstuff on October 19. Retail for each pair is set at $195 USD.
In other ASICS news, the footwear brand recently teamed up with LA-based Chemist Creations for new takes on the GEL-Kayano 5 OG & GEL-FujiTrabuco 7 SPS.
