If you haven’t had enough of your superhero fill over the past several years, DC has just announced a slew of release dates for its upcoming films The Batman, The Suicide Squad, and a newly announced film, DC Super Pets.

Arguably the most anticipated of the films is the Matt Reeves-directed The Batman, which focuses on a younger Bruce Wayne, and will reportedly be switching Ben Affleck’s role as The Dark Knight with a new cast member. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves stated that the film would focus more in-depth on Batman’s role as a detective, shifting away from previous the Affleck-toting films towards a more comic-centric, crime noir approach. He also shared that the film will showcase a “rogue gallery” of villains. The Batman is slated for a June 25, 2021 release.

Alongside the new Batman film is the James Gunn-directed sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad. Gunn, who directed both of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy films, moved to DC and Warner Bros. after Disney fired him last year after controversial tweets were brought to light. The Suicide Squad will arrive in theatres on August 6, 2021.

Alongside the sequel films, DC has announced a brand new film called DC Super Pets and is partially based on the 1962 concept Legion of Super-Pets, which combined the life of superheroes and their trusty crime-fighting pals (such as Superman’s dog Krypto and Batman’s dog Ace The Bat-Hound).

What do you think about the number of new releases? Are you excited for what’s to come for the DC Universe onscreen?
