Rick and Morty Presented an Award at the Emmys
The titular show also walked away with the gold.
The 2018 Emmy Awards took place last night and the titular characters from Rick and Morty made an unlikely appearance presenting the award for Outstanding Reality-Competition Programming. The two immediately go into their schtick after disregarding a reprimanding monologue.
Rick then proceeds to show a “living Emmy,” an alien creature he accuses the TV Academy of dipping in metal and using as its awards. “It’s an herbivore, it mates for life, and it’s capable of complex emotions,” Rick explains. “Everyone that takes one of these home is a monster.” Rick then revealed the award winner: RuPaul’s Drag Race. Later on in the evening, Rick and Morty won the award for Outstanding Animated Program—its first Emmy win and nomination.
