Red Bull Taps NEIGHBORHOOD, Hiroshi Fujiwara & NIGO for 'Major Force Be With You'
Streetwear heavyweights weigh in on the legendary record label.

Red Bull Japan is poised to introduce a new documentary breaking down the history of a previously-under-appreciated Japanese record label. Major Force Be With You centers around Major Force, a company launched in the ’90s by Hiroshi Fujiwara and Kan Takagi to disseminate the extraordinary hip-hop that Fujiwara was introducing to Japan, along with key local artists, like the now-famous EGO WRAPPIN’.
A number of individuals contribute interviews to the project, including NIGO, Sk8thing, James Lavelle, Fujiwara and Takagi, some of whom are interviewed by NEIGHBORHOOD‘s Shinsuke Takizawa. Takizawa was brought into Major Force in his early 20s as a graphic designer — the T-shirts he created lead to his desire to create more substantial releases with NEIGHBORHOOD. Commemorating the documentary, Takizawa has crafted a special T-shirt design to be released alongside the film at Tokyo’s Red Bull Music Festival on September 30. It touches upon some of the related acts and important individuals who shaped Major Force.
Though only Red Bull Japan’s website has the video at the moment, an international iteration of documentary will reportedly hit YouTube shortly.
