Another Look at KAPITAL’s Ainu Gaudy Sweater
Ready to cop now.
Earlier this week, we explored KAPITAL’s latest lookbook display titled “CHIP SANKE,” offering a reflective look at the aforementioned ceremony in which indigenous Ainu settlers ship the souls of departed villagers out to sea in handmade boats. Part of the themed lineup are these embellished Ainu Gaudy Sweaters.
Offered in both blue and purple tonal variants, each undergoes an intricate cotton knit construction, parading colors, and symbology central to the Ainu culture. Rather busy in design language, each pullover gathers an assortment of knit techniques, resulting in various twist, criss-cross and wave patterns, which creatively complements the range of animal wildlife images scattered throughout. Priced at ¥38,664 JPY (approximately $345 USD), you can find these themed KAPITAL sweaters now via the brand’s online shop.
In case you missed it, Riccardo Tisci unveiled the new “Thomas Burberry Monogram” T-shirt.
