GoldLink & Miguel Head to an Iconic Diner for New "Got Friends" Video
“Let me tell you ’bout this PYT that I seen this week.”
Back in June, GoldLink and Miguel teamed up for a new collaborative single known as “Got Friends.” Now, the two stars reconnect for the record’s official, Christian Sutton-directed video. The vignette for “Got Friends” was filmed at the Burbank restaurant Frank’s Coffee Shop, an iconic Los Angeles area diner that has been used as the setting for several high-profile film scenes.
“Look, I ain’t really gotta rap about it, I just talk about it ’cause I live it now / So let me tell you ’bout this PYT, that I seen this week, I had to take a bow,” GoldLink raps. “5’2” with a brown fur and her hair tied with them light eyes / And she would make me throw it all away for a fun time and the right prize.”
Previously, Miguel also spoke to us the artistic motivations behind the lyrics like those featured in this collaboration. “I believe artists are supposed to somehow be documenting,” he explained during episode nine of our Sound Check series. “I think art, through the history of art, always documented the time, what it looks like, what the people look like, what they dress like, conversations, maybe their views on science or if maybe religion was really the pivotal pillar of society, or culturally, those things always manifested in the arts, especially visually.”
