Travis Scott Clears up Backlash Surrounding Amanda Lepore's Absence on 'Astroworld' Cover
“I have nothing but respect for the LGBTQ community.”

On Friday, both Travis Scott and David LaChapelle found themselves in a bit of hot water after fans noticed the removal of transgender model Amanda Lepore from Scott’s Astroworld cover.
The original art work, shot by photographer LaChapelle, features a scantily clad Lepore bending over on the left side next to Scott’s giant inflatable gold head.
However, soon after Scott posted a new variation of the cover, where Lepore was notably absent, fans quickly took to social media to voice their concern, claiming Scott’s questionable actions were stemming from transphobia.
In response, Scott has issued a statement on the situation, “I have nothing but respect for the LGBTQ community.” He continued, “Yo Amanda you did upstage everyone even me and I can’t wait for everyone to see the booklet that me and Dave put together that includes all these images. Sorry for the misunderstanding… EVERY ONE IS WELCOME TO ASTROWORLD!”
Lepore has since responded to Scott’s statement stating, “nothing but LOVE for @travisscott and @david_lachapelle thank u for having me and i’m glad to be part of this album.” LaChapelle addressed the situation earlier on claiming, “Everybody wants to explain everything with some phobia or whatever. This is a case of something else she can’t seem to control lol.” He later clarified in a separate comment, “Amanda was taken out because she just upstaged everyone.”
Take a look at both versions along with Scott’s statement below. Astroworld dropped on Friday night and features guest appearances by Frank Ocean, the Weeknd, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, James Blake, and more.
