Phase One Debuts $54,990 USD Camera System
The IQ4 uses the world’s first Sony 151 megapixel sensor.
Phase One taps the ultra-premium camera market with its latest setup: the XF IQ4, complete with the world’s first 151 megapixel Sony camera sensor. The costly system offers “highest resolution possible,” according to the camera’s architect, Lau Norgaard. Indeed, no other manufacturer is offering 151 megapixels, which will make for extremely high-quality prints and reproductions. The IQ4 itself attaches to the rear of the XF camera and can be further abetted by one of Phase One’s “blue-ring” lenses, which do not come with the set but purport to enable “wide open” views that push the boundaries of high-resolution photography.
The IQ4 system launches in October for a whopping $51,990 USD — it does include the XF camera, which was released in 2015.
Meanwhile, DJI‘s Mavic 2 Pro drone was recently revealed to utilize a powerful Hasselblad camera.
