Rap Pioneer Kidd Creole of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five Arrested for Murder
“It’s like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder how I keep from going under.”
Nathaniel “Kidd Creole” Glover, the founding member of pioneering hip-hop group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, was arrested last night for murder after he allegedly stabbed a homeless man in New York City. Officers responded to a 911 call around midnight about a male possibly stabbed within the vicinity of the 17 Precinct in midtown Manhattan. Upon arrival, cops spotted a 55-year-old male with multiple stab wounds in his torso who was then transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead according to police reports.
Glover allegedly had a run-in with the victim while on his way to work as a security guard near where the incident took place. According to reports, a gay slur was directed at Glover which triggered the altercation. The victim, whose name is John Jolly, previously served five years in prison for sexually assaulting a 42-year-old woman in 1997.
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five will always be known for bringing hip-hop to a mainstream audience after releasing one of hip-hop’s all-time classics with “The Message.” In addition, they became the first hip-hop group inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2007.
