Ahead of the sneaker’s August 28 release date, Justin Timberlake has discussed the inspiration behind his latest Jordan Brand collaboration. It had previously been revealed that the Air Jordan 3 JTH in “Bio Beige” is heavily influenced by the “Higher Higher” track from Timberlake’s Man of the Woods album, but now the artist has explained the relationship between track and sneaker.

“The album’s premise was really about making things in a handmade and artisanal way,” Timberlake explained, “the same way the album is filled with live instrumentation, we wanted the shoe to have the same feeling of being premium and made by hand.” This is particularly important to the materials used, including premium tan suede and raw leather laces.

The track is also referenced in the medial collar embossing, and the lyrics “fame is a lie” and “stress is cruel” on each footbed. Discussing how the importance of the chosen lyrics, Timberlake added that the track is “really about the idea that no matter what we have in life, our relationships are the most important thing. Money, fame, success are all fleeting, whereas a real relationship will last for the long haul.”
