Dot Da Genius Breaks Down the Making of Kid Cudi's "Day N Nite"
A decade after its release.
For the latest episode of “Deconstructed,” Genius sat down with producer Dot Da Genius to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Kid Cudi‘s “Day N Nite.”
Standing as Cudders highest charting song to date, the track served as the lead single from his debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Day and appeared on his breakout mixtape A Kid Named Cudi. Shedding some light on what he and Cudi thought about the song, the producer behind the track revealed that he wasn’t sure how “Day N Nite” would perform given its revolutionary sound, however, it was the rap crooner who assured him it was going to be a hit. According to Dot, the song started out as just a hook that Cudi sang for him that later fueled his quest to find the rhythm and melody that resulted in the celebrated track. To this day, ”Day N Nite” is still a song that people approach Dot about, proving the true power of music in the world.
