‘Moonlight’ Director Barry Jenkins Teases New ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ Trailer
Based on the book by acclaimed novelist, James Baldwin.
Oscar-winning writer and director of Moonlight, Barry Jenkins, took to Twitter to share a teaser trailer of his upcoming film entitled If Beale Street Could Talk. The film will be an adaptation of James Baldwin’s 1974 novel of the same name. Baldwin was born on this day back in 1924.
The movie takes place in the 1970s and spotlights emerging actress, KiKi Layne, as a pregnant woman in Harlem who struggles to exonerate her fiancé (played by Race actor Stephan James) after he was imprisoned. The trailer also portrays Regina King who helms Layne’s mother alongside Brian Tyree Henry from Atlanta.
