He was the headliner for a show on the eve of the World Cup Final.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup was one of the most exciting events of the year. For the World Cup final, France faced off against Croatia and won 4-2 but before France’s national team took the field to warm up, they chose French Montana‘s “Welcome to my Party” to come out to. The Coke Boys frontman was there to take in the moment, sharing a video of himself celebrating the occasion. “Soccer gave me my first visa to leave Africa,” wrote the rapper, who was born and raised in Morocco before he moved to the South Bronx in New York with his family when he was 13.
A diehard soccer fan, French got the opportunity to perform at the Tango League Final in Moscow on the eve of the World Cup Final. Tango League is adidas’ grassroots program, giving participants the chance to create their own fame, meet their heroes and immerse themselves in all things adidas Football. The hip-hop vet spoke to HYPEBEAST on how music can impact the world, overcoming obstacles, visiting Russia and what it means to him to be at the World Cup.
“The World Cup only comes around every four years, I feel like me being a part of it, it’s a special moment. God wanted me to be here just to watch it,” he says.
