Shelby is well known for its race cars and one of the most famous is the 1964 Daytona Coupe called the “Secret Weapon.” The car is a direct descendant of the Cobra, with Carroll Shelby aiming to one-up his 1959 Le Mans win with this upgrade. To do this he took the 289 Cobra Chassis and added new bodywork in order to make the car more aerodynamic — the result of which was a car that could reach over 190 MPH.

The experiment was a success as Shelby won the resulting Le Mans. But there was an issue afterwards when the truck transporting the car crashed and the car was unable to be repaired in time for the next race, eventually being returned to Shelby American. Now the car is up for auction at Hillbank USA, with an estimate price of $495,000 USD.

In related news, BMW officially introduced the 2019 Z4 M40i Roadster First Edition.
