This past July 4th was President Obama’s final Independence Day celebration at the White House. To make the day truly special, as it was also his daughter Malia’s 18th birthday, the 44th POTUS invited musical guests Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe to perform for his guests. It’s no secret that Obama is a big fan of Kendrick Lamar — he once expressed to the public that “How Much a Dollar Cost” by K-Dot was his favorite song in 2015, and while he didn’t perform that single, Kendrick did however perform some of his more familiar hits such as “Swimming Pools,” “Money Trees,” “(Expletive) Don’t Kill My Vibe,” “Poetic Justice,” “A.D.H.D.” and “Alright.”
