Tesla Refunded a Quarter of U.S. Model 3 Preorders
More Model 3 woes.
It’s being reported that after hundreds of thousands of preorders two years ago, customers are getting their $1,000 deposit for a Model 3 refunded. Analytics firm Second Measure says that 23 percent of pre-orders have been refunded, and although Tesla has since denied those numbers, they decided to not say how much the firm miscalculated.
After a delay in production due to flawed parts and consumer reports not recommending the vehicle as a result, it appears Elon Musk is spearheading the development of the vehicle, stating he plans to manufacture 6,000 a week by the end of next month. The refunds could also be the result of early customers who bought into the original hype and are now disinterested in owning a Tesla Model 3.
