Rostrum Records Countersue Wiz Khalifa for over $2 Million

About a month ago, reports emerged that Wiz Khalifa was suing his former manager and Rostrum Records for $1 million over an all-inclusive 360-deal he signed with the label when he was only 16 years old. Now, the Rostrum Records team – including president Benjy Grinberg – are firing back with a counter-lawsuit, claiming that Wiz didn’t stick to their initial agreement and still owes millions of dollars to the label. They’re pointing out a 2005 contract that they believe entitles Rostrum to 15 percent of Wiz’s music and touring royalties and 20 percent of his merchandise profits. Grinberg and co. are seeking over $2 million for the lawsuit. Grinberg has said in a statement:

“Thirteen years ago, we started Rostrum Records as a label that would support and nurture the artists we believe in. We are very grateful that Rostrum has been able to achieve that goal and provide a strong, family atmosphere where meaningful relationships with the artists is our top priority. To give everything you have to an artist and then to be on the receiving end of a fabricated lawsuit is deeply disappointing. What was alleged is, in fact, the complete opposite of our actions and the antitheses of what Rostrum Records and I stand for. Rostrum looks forward to quickly addressing these baseless claims so we can continue to focus our energies on our artists’ success.”
