'Sully' Follows the Untold Story of the Hudson River Plane Landing
The making of a modern American hero.
Eight years ago, US Airways Flight 1549 would strike a flock of Canada geese shortly after taking off from New York’s LaGuardia Airport, but thanks to the skill and quick thinking of pilot Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger, the plane was guided to as smooth a landing as could be made on the Hudson River, leading to what many dubbed the “Miracle on the Hudson” due to the relative dearth of casualties relative to the situation. That saga is now immortalized by Hollywood in Sully, a biopic of sorts exploring that fateful January day and its effects on Sullenberger, placing his actions within the grand scheme of his career. Directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Tom Hanks as Sullenberger and Aaron Eckhart as co-pilot Jeff Skiles. Catch Sully when it releases in cinemas on September 9.
