LOESS Celebrates Bedouin Identity With Debut Collection
Made using natural and sustainable techniques.
For its debut collection, LOESS — a new label from the husband-and-wife team behind STORY mfg. — has taken inspiration from the Anglo-Arab couple and their bedouin heritage. The process behind the “Sun Up” collection began with research into this heritage and the importance of “movement and minimalism” to the bedouin people.
Another key influence on the Spring/Summer 2019 collection is the idea of hand-me-down pieces, with a focus on embroideries, hems and fastenings as well as entire hand-sewn pieces. Similar to STORY mfg., LOESS also emphasizes ethical and sustainable fabrics. All of the pieces in the “Sun Up” collection are made from hemp – chosen for its naturally high-wicking, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and temperature regulating characteristics — and naturally dyed with plants from the Arab world.
