Jim Carrey is the star of a new Showtime series called Kidding. Teaming up once again with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry, the comedy icon helms the role of a children’s television host named Jeff Pickles— sort of like Mr. Rogers, but a more miserable version. A newly-released official trailer portrays the actor trying to sustain his multimillion-dollar branding empire amidst a family crisis. Showtime describes Mr. Pickles as  “a kind man in a cruel world [facing] a slow leak of sanity as hilarious as it is heartbreaking.”

Watch the first official trailer for Kidding above and expect an official premiere on Showtime this September 9 at 10/9C.
